GAZ car factory commenced with full cycle assembly, welding and painting included, of the new generation Skoda Octavia hatchbacks. Octavia is the third model by Volkswagen corporate group that the plant in Nizhny Novgorod welcomed; earlier GAZ launched mass production of Skoda Yeti crossovers and Volkswagen Jetta sedans. The new generation Skoda Octavias have been introduced to the Russian market less than a month ago and the cars that the official dealers currently have on sale are made in Czech Republic. Prices for the hatchback start at 590,000 rubles or ~$18,000 for a model fitted with the 1.2 105 hp turbo engine.
