Billionaire Mikhail Prohorov, the investor in Yo-mobile development program, promised that he'll arrive to the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum riding a pilot model of his offspring. The event on the Neva riverside commences today, June 21, but the photos of a pre-production Yo-mobile crossover had already leaked into the Russian Internet.
OK, the vehicle design doesn't have anything in common with the previous Yo-mobile concept cars and we can assume that the car has been completely redesigned. The crossover external design is quite odd and beyond doubt will become a big topic of debates. The most distinctive element is its two-colored body—the car is designed in black and white. It seems that the black plastic parts are not some cryptic panels and are not used to disguise whatever's under them. They are usual body parts.
A space frame is the basis of the car's design, while the external body panels are made of plastic. It is expected that it'll be a kind of hybrid of the sequential circuit where energy from the internal combustion engine is transferred to the leading wheels through the electric motor. The AWD crossover will be probably fitted either with a petrol or dual-fuel (gas-petrol) engine which are to be purchased from a foreign producer whose name has been still not revealed.
However, there is still no official information on Yo-mobile apart from the fact that the batch vehicle production is scheduled to start in 2015.
