When Chevrolet Lacetti vehicles were going out of production last year, it has been revealed that the cars will be given a chance for a rebirth in the Russian market. Finally, the sedan that was named Daewoo Gentra has been officially shown to public in Moscow. The car production has already started at UZ-Daewoo factory and the vehicles are seen to go on sale in August.
Daewoo Gentra is almost like a very well-known Chevrolet Lacetti sedan, but with a remodeled forebody—now it looks like that of Lacetti hatchbacks. The only engine it will be fitted with is the 1.5 Li 105 HP DOHC gas power unit; currently these engines are produced at GM Powertrain Uzbekistan factory in Tashkent. By the way, Chevrolet Cobalts come with exactly the same engine. The cars are fitted either with the five-speed M/T or four-speed A/T.
The Uzbekistan-made Daewoo Gentra will cost Russian customers at least 399,000 rubles or ~$33,000. The complete list of equipment it will be provided is still unknown.
