The Bogdan vehicles entered the Russian market four years ago. The Lada 110 assembled in Cherkasy was sold under this trademark. First customers accepted the Bogdan cars with enthusiasm, but demand for them gradually began to slow. Sales slid even more with introduction of the utilization fee for the vehicles imported from Ukraine. Information about full stoppage of Bogdan’s deliveries to Russia has been placed recently.
According to the unofficial data, it was caused by the decision of AvtoVAZ to cancel a permit to sell these cars at the Russian market. Problems of the Bogdan Corporation itself and difficult Russian-Ukrainian relations probably came into play. By the way, this company is affiliated with Petro Poroshenko – one of the candidates for President of Ukraine, though he officially sold out his share of the business several years ago.
