The presentation of the first Datsun model for the Russian market - the compact on-DO sedan – took place in Moscow in early April. It was also announced that the next car of the Japanese brand would be introduced in the second half of the year. But the first photos of the disguised prototype of the hatchback have appeared today. As it became known earlier, the new model would be named Datsun mi-DO.
If the Datsun on-DO is made on the base of the Lada Granta, we can easily recognize the Lada Kalina in the body contour of the hatchback. Designers have completely changed its front fascia, but the rear end is the same as the Lada has. The car won’t significantly differ from the Lada Kalina concerning its structure. It will most probably have the 1,6-litre engine (87 hp) and a five-speed manual transmission like the sedan.
According to preliminary information, the mi-DO hatchback will make its official debut at the Moscow International Automobile Salon in August.
