They caught sight of the first Datsun model for the Russian market in the streets again. This time pictures of two cars were taken in Tolyatti. They were thoroughly disguised. However, their appearance is not a secret any more: the photos of the car without camouflage were published in January.
An announcement prohibiting taking pictures of the cars was stuck on them evidently to avoid leakage of the prototype photos. But it is difficult to say how a piece of paper with the crossed out camera icon can impede it…
An official presentation of the brand-new will be held in Moscow on April 4. It is quite possible that the new Datsun will be named Mi-Do or On-Do. At least, the Nissan Motor Company has registered these brand names in the Federal Service for Intellectual Property, Patents and Trademarks.
The new Datsun sedan will replicate the Lada Granta technically: it will have the same structural system of running gear and general body structure. The car will most probably have a 1.6-liter 8-valve VAZ engine and a five-speed manual transmission. They will begin to take orders for this car in May and deliveries are due to start in September 2014.
